CBS Evening News and NBC News: In HD or Not?
I just read the Yahoo! article about Katie Couric's sagging ratings on CBS Evening News. The article blames sexism as the reason, but kindly points out that Brain whats-his-name on
NBC also faces horrible ratings.
Yet FOX and ABC Network broadcasts are doing fine, FOX Network News is holding its own and ABC News has SKYROCKETED. The article would have convinced me that it was sexism behind Couric's ratings, except for the NBC part. Then I got to wondering:
I know Scrubs on NBC is not HD yet, but what about their news? Are the CBS Evening News and NBC Evening News broadcast in High-Defintion?
I work at a BestBuy, and HDTV is here to stay. Only 1 of every 100 TVs we sell will not be HD, and thats including TVs that can do High-Definition but just lack the tuner!
So could it be that people are switching to High-Def programming? The last thing I ever read about when someone talks up ratings is if its high-definition, but when people buy $2000 TVs, I think that'd matter more!
I don't think you can really blame HD for sagging news ratings. News is news, you should look at the fact that people are getting their news from different sources like the Internet.
